CEREBRAL VENOUS TROMBOSIS IN CHILD. CONSIDERATIONS IN A CLINICAL CASE REPORT
ABSTRACT:
Objectiv: The aim of this paper is to make a review of the clinical, paraclinical and management data in cerebral venous trombosis, starting from a clinical case.
Material and method: We present the case of a boy, 1 years 8 months old, admitted in our department for coma, tetraparesis involving especially the right limbs; these features occured after a respiratory infection. The paraclinical exams included cerebral CT scan, cerebral MRI, EEG, coagulation tests, lombar punction.
Results: Cerebral MRI showed cerebral venous thrombosis with left thalamic ischemic stroke. Anticoagulation therapy, first with heparine, then orale anticoagulation, antibiotherapy, cerebral depletion, and recovery therapy was started.
Conclusions: Cerebral venous thrombosis can present with sever manifestations, often threathing the childs life. An early proper therapy permits a good recovery.
