FAMILY OF CHILDREN WITH ADHD. FAMILY YPOLOGIES AND MANAGEMENT STYLES
ABSTRACT:
The studies suggests that the presence of ADHD în children is associated to varying degrees with disturbances în family and marital functioning, disrupted parent-child relationships, reduced parenting self-efficacy, increased levels of parenting stress and parental psychopathology, particularly when ADHD is comorbid with conduct disorder. Although various neurochemical and genetics factors form the basis of aetiology în ADHD, parent-child interactions, the degree of family stability and environmental supports contribute to the exacerbation or remission of symptoms.
Some studies identified 4 typologyînADHD’sfamilies, în relationship with thefamily responses, perceptions and control of the disrupted behaviour of children with ADHD: the chaotic family, the ADHD controlled family, the surviving family and the reinvested family.
