NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS IN THE EMBRYO AND FOETUS AND THEIR IMPACT ON MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH OF SOCIETY
ABSTRACT:
In recent years, in the Republic of Moldova more preterm children are born with various micro- or macro- development anomalies, with various forms of perinatal encephalopathy etc., underlying the high rate of infant mortality as well as invalidity. In many children who develop convulsive seizures, hyperthermia, and cerebral oedema, various exogenous or endogenous factors can be detected in their anamnesis that, during the intrauterine period, de- termine the “slowing down of the maturation” of the nervous system in the foetus. Over 2,200 patients have been studied. We concluded the following: 1) fontanelle megaly (the enlarged fontanelle) is directly proportional to ventriculomegaly of the brain and inversely proportional to intrauterine maturation of the nervous system in the foetus; 2) all the pathology of the nervous system in children (in addition to accidental pathology and contagious infections), but also in a fairly large proportion of adults, arises from “intrauterine non-maturation”, while “accelerating the maturation” of the nervous system with metabolic cocktails would be a new concept in early prophylaxis and preventive treatment of the nervous system as well as in self-regulation of the neu- ropsychic functions of the brain.
