SUICIDAL ATTEMPTS WITH ANTIEPILEPTIC DRUGS IN A CLINICAL SAMPLE DURING 203-2008 IN WESTERN PART OF
ABSTRACT:
Behavioral functions as well neuropsychological development are at risk in epileptic patients. Social and emotional factors (low self-esteem, feelings of inferiority and depression) in some special environment can lead to suicidal attempts especially in childhood and adolescence. The antiepileptic treatment also is known as increasing the risk for side effects. The availability of AED for children and adolescents with suicidal attempts is analized in a clinical sample of hospitalized patients during 2003-june 2008. The characteristics of these attempts are analyzed for 182 patients with suicidal attempts from a total number of 8687 hospitalized patients during the mentioned period.
